David Bishop
South East Bridges Manager , BEAR ScotlandDavid Bishop works for BEAR Scotland and has overall responsibility for the inspection, maintenance, assessment, strengthening and refurbishment of the all trunk road bridges in the southeast of Scotland. This includes the major bridges Forth Road Bridge, Queensferry Crossing as well as over 800 network structures. David has worked on the detailed design of major maintenance and assessment schemes on some of the UK’s largest bridges including the M48 Severn Bridge, Forth Road Bridge and the Humber suspension bridge.
His experience includes the detailed design of bridges on major projects such as the Aberdeen Western Peripheral Route and A9 Luncarty to Pass of Birnam. David has experience in the design and construction of post tensioned balanced cantilever bridges and design checking of cable stayed footbridges.

- The presentation will discuss the history of the Forth Road Bridge Main Cable Internal Inspection and Assessment and the works undertaken to prevent continued corrosion, including the refurbishment of the main cable dehumidification system.
- David will also discuss the latest internal inspection and assessment methodology and look at the future implications for the Forth Road Bridge.
